How to Recognize Virtual Suicide

Do you suspect that you may be the victim of a virtual suicide hoax? Warning signs include:

An overly dramatic story

A highly improbable method of suicide

A friend or relative conveniently appears to tell you of the person’s death. Often this person will then stay in the community, milking the audience for sympathy and encouraging tributes to the dear departed.

Don’t instantly accuse someone of a hoax – you may be wrong. But you can do some further research into the situation to confirm or allay your fears.
